Lynbrook voters turned out in force to approve the three propositions that were put on the ballot this year. The 2006-07 school budget was passed by a vote of 1,366 to 832. Voters approved of expending $1.04 million from the capital reserve fund by a vote count of 1394 to 616. The proposition to extend the capital reserve fund was passed by a vote count of 1,245 to 635.
Incumbent Phyllis Caruso lost her nine-year school board seat to challenger Tom Lynch. Cathy Papandrew kept her seat, winning against challenger Nina Battaglia.
East Rockaway
The East Rockaway budget passed with a 699 to 652 vote, a close but victorious vote for a district whose first attempt failed during last year's elections Running unopposed, school board President Mary Boccuzzi received 831 votes.
