At the Fire Council meeting of the Lynbrook Fire Department on April 17, Lynbrook Mayor William Hendrick swore in, from left, Anthony C. DeCarlo Jr., of Tally-Ho Engine 3, as Chief Engineer of the Lynbrook Fire Department for the coming year. Edward Hynes, second from left, of Engine Company 1, was sworn in as First Assistant Chief; Michael Anderson, third from left, of Truck Company, was sworn in as Second Assistant Chief; and James McDermott, at right, also of Truck Company, was sworn in as Third Assistant Chief.
DeCarlo, known as “Zemo,” joined the department in 1992 because of the inspiration of his uncle, Ex- Chief and Honorary Commissioner Dominick DeCarlo, a 65-year member who recently passed away.
“”Zemo” DeCarlo was born and raised in Lynbrook and is a graduate of Lynbrook High School. He operates his own landscaping business. He is the father of three children and is the third generation living in the same home which is grandfather lived in over 100 years ago in Lynbrook.
“It is one of the greatest honors to be elected Chief Engineer of the Lynbrook Fire Department and lead a group of over 225 dedicated men and women who are there 24 hours each day to protect the lives and property of our residents,” said DeCarlo after the ceremony.
