State Police confirmed that the motorcyclist that was killed Monday afternoon when he lost control of his bike on Route 111 in Alfred was a Robert Locke, 36, of Lynbrook.
According to police, Locke was riding with a group of friends headed to Laconia, NH, when he swerved to avoid a vehicle turning onto Clark Road. He was thrown into the roadway and died shortly after arriving at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
He was wearing a helmet.
This is the fifth motorcycle death in Maine this year. That compares to ten motorcycle deaths at this same time in 2015.
