The Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce recognized the Wounded Warriors Project Band for their musical efforts at the Sept. 1 chamber’s car show benefit for the Wounded Warrior Project at a village board meeting on Monday night. Harry Levitt, owner of Murlees’ Men’s and Boys’ Wear and car show committee chairman, recapped the event and introduced the band members.

“[The Wounded Warriors Project] is something that goes toward our men and women who have fought so greatly for our freedoms that we take for granted,” Levitt said. “… The amount of people who came out, the amount of cars. It was unbelievable. It was really an outpouring of support by the whole community.”

Soul Doctor Robert Goebel thanked the chamber on behalf of the band. “We use music as a venue to listen to these brave souls,” he said. “I thank you gentlemen [Levitt and Steve Wangel, the chamber’s vice president of membership] and the town for having us come. It was a beautiful evening.”

The Wounded Warriors Project helps servicemen and women when coming back from active duty, Goebel said. The project offers support and helps them to get back to having a normal life, he added.

The chamber did not present a check to the band at the meeting, but instead will send the more than $1,500 raised to the Wounded Warriors Project.
