Guests in attendance at Lynbrook’s menorah lighting ceremony included residents, rabbis and elected officials.
Local rabbis and elected officials addressed the audience at Lynbrook’s annual menorah lighting event on Dec. 13 at the corner of Stauderman and Forest avenues.
The menorah lighting symbolized the beginning of Hanukkah, or the Jewish Festival of Lights. It commemorates a battle in which Jewish forces, known as the Maccabees, fought off conquerors. It also represents oil that was only supposed to last one day,. that provided light for eight nights.
