Angela Dattoma, a second grader at West End Elementary School in Lynbrook, was selected as a Nassau County regional winner in the Dance/Choreography category of the National PTA Reflections Program. The theme of the competition this year was “Diversity.” As a winner at the regional level, Angela will be moving on to the state level of judging, and has been invited by the New York State PTA to attend a reception in April. The National PTA Reflections Program is one of the largest student arts recognition programs in the nation. Each year, hundreds of thousands of students participate throughout the country. Only the top ten percent of entries make it to the county level. A total of 163 West End students submitted entries in this year’s competition. Those who moved forward to the county level of judging were: Jack Viceconte, Richard Wiater and Jessica Graepel (literature), Angela Dattoma (choreography and dance); Edweena Dumel, Rocio Garcia and Sean Curley (visual); and Christopher Gragnano, Elizabeth Calabro and Matthew Calabro (photography).
