Malverne schools celebrate MLK Day

Posted

The Malverne school district held its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award celebration on Jan. 13 to honor King’s legacy and birthday, and the people who embody the ideals he set forth.

Recipients of this year’s Humanitarian Award were Michele Reed, a district alumna and Lakeview doctor whose twins attend the Maurice W. Downing Primary School, and Doris Sherr, who works as a secretary to the Davison Avenue Intermediate School principal, Edward Tallon. Both women have volunteered time and contributed experience and ability to the district.
