After more than 40 years in operation, the Malverne Volunteer Ambulance Corps officially opened its new headquarters on July 14 at 11 Hempstead Ave. during an honorary ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The event, which began at noon, included Mayor Patricia McDonald, village, ambulance corps and Town of Hempstead officials, as well as local residents and clergy. This spring, after several months of tense negotiations, the ambulance corps approved a new contract with the village as well as a lease for the building.
