Police said the assault occurred on Sept. 23 at 4:20 a.m., when two men and a Massappequa woman seriously injured a 23-year-old man following a verbal altercation inside Baldwin Billiards at 2413 Grand Avenue.
First Squad detectives said that two men - James Lennard, a 33-year-old from West Haven, Connecticut, and 33-year-old Lawrence Brown of 2 W. Forest Ave. in Roosevelt - along with 27-year-old Karla Santos of 341 Unqua Rd. in Massappequa, punched and kicked the victim in the head and body.
Police said the victim suffered a fracture to his right ankle, and was transported to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside. The fracture, police said, required a pin and two screws set in. The man will require surgery, and police said he will be "immobilized" for 12 weeks in order to recover.
Police arrested Lennard, Brown and Santos in the vicinity of the incident. All three were charged with second-degree gang assault, a felony, and were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 24.
