Many reasons to attend PCC's 'tasty' fund-raiser

On Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m., 50 of the area's finest restaurants, bakeries and wineries will serve a lavish all-you-can-eat smorgasbord of their signature dishes, desserts and rare wines all under one roof in the elegant Woodmere Club. Ten thousand dollars in cash and other valuable prizes will be given away in the raffles. The first-prize winner will take home $5,000 cash, while the second prize is $3,000 and the third is $2,000. "For about the cost of a single dinner at a fine restaurant, people can sample delicious food, desserts and wines from 50 wonderful eateries, enjoy a casual night of music and socializing at the Woodmere Club with friends, win cash and help a very good cause at the same time," Katz said. "No wonder last year's 'A Tasteful Evening' was sold out!"
"It is gratifying that many of our guests tell us that this event is one of the highlights of their year" said Katz, a lifetime resident of the Five Towns with deep roots in the community. "However, what makes it all worth while is that this event enables Peninsula Counseling Center to provide its compassionate, caring and confidential mental-health services to children, adults and families who otherwise would not be able to afford them." Since 1913, PCC, one of the oldest and largest nonprofit mental-health agencies in Nassau County, has been providing outstanding services and programs for children, adolescents, adults, seniors and families. These include some that are not available anywhere else in Nassau, such as the PCC Trauma Recovery Center. Last year, PCC helped almost 5,000 individuals. Katz stresses that "Your donations and attendance at 'A Tasteful Evening' will make it possible for PCC to help even more people. We at PCC never want to turn anyone away."
