Maple Pointe set to open

Posted
With the opening just around the corner, changes happen every day at Maple Pointe, a five-story complex with 90 units, ranging from studios and one bedrooms to companion suites. Monday, workers put together the pool table in the billiard room, placed chairs and tables in the ice cream parlor and connected the fixtures in the country kitchens on the fourth and fifth floors.
That afternoon or the next day, workers were expected to put umbrellas in the courtyard tables and stock the library's bookshelves. Over-stuffed couches and comfy chairs for reading or getting to know a new neighbor were already placed in the common living rooms on every floor. Some were still covered in plastic. Others are already adorned with throw pillows.
Each time Sandy Hunt takes a prospective tenant on a tour of the facility, she notices something new like the glasses already placed on the ice cream parlor shelves. A few hours ago, the shelves were empty.
Hunt of Rockville Centre is the facility's sales director. You might say if Maple Pointe is a community, Hunt helped pick the residents.
Assisted living an increasingly popular alternative for older adults not ready for a nursing home but wanting to give up their house is not right for everyone. Speaking with prospective residents, Hunt explains the different options seniors have today and helps the potential tenants and their families understand whether assisted living might be right for them.
      I love my residents,
