Born in Brooklyn on Jan. 20, 1905, to Dorothy and Daniel Hanagan, Ms. Kiley graduated from high school and secretarial school before working for Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. in Manhattan. She was the devoted wife of John F. Kiley, vice president of sales at Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, N.J., who passed away on Dec. 4, 1952.
Ms. Kiley moved to Rockville Centre in 1953 to raise her children near her family after her husband died. She lived in the village until moving to Colorado in 1990 to be near her daughter. In both places, she was an active bridge player, frequently playing at the Masters level. She was a member of St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, and St. John?s Church in Loveland, Colo.
She loved road trips with her son-in-law, chocolate and sherry, and her family says she was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She received a congratulatory letter from Willard Scott at the time of her 100th birthday, and was surrounded by family and friends at the several parties held in her honor.
Ms. Kiley is survived by her sons, John Kiley and his wife Beage of Olympia, Wash., and Dr. Richard Kiley of Middlebury, Conn.; daughter Dorothy Childers and her husband Dr. Marvin Childers, of Loveland; sisters Dorothy Griffin of Lynbrook and Frances Conrow (husband John) of Oceanside; and eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward.
A memorial service was held in Loveland on July 23. There will be a visitation at Macken Mortuary, 52 Clinton Ave., on Aug. 22 from 2-6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Cathedral at 9 a.m. on Aug. 23, with interment following at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury.
