Mayor’s Golf and Tennis Classic and Dinner on Oct. 1 in Rockville Centre

Organizers of the 2012 Mayor’s Classic recently met at the Rockville Links Country Club with the golf outing hole-in-one prize, a new Infiniti provided by Legacy Infiniti of Lynbrook.

The annual Mayor’s Golf and Tennis Classic and Dinner, set for Oct. 1, will celebrate its 25th anniversary by honoring former Mayor Eugene J. Murray, the founder of the Rockville Centre Community Fund. The all-day event is the primary fundraiser for the fund.

Tickets and sponsorships for the event, as well as journal ads, are still available. The donation for breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner, as well as a round of golf at either the Rockville Links Country Club or the Seawane Country Club, is $350. The donation for tennis and lunch at the Seawane is $100; tennis, lunch and dinner, $225. Dinner-only tickets at the Rockville Links are $125.

The fund has provided nearly $1.5 million in emergency assistance to village residents since 1987. In 2001, a special subsidiary fund was established to help local families who lost loved ones in the attacks of Sept. 11.
