The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is in the process of forming a chapter on Long Island. The chapter is organizing the "Out of the Darkness" community walk again on Sunday, Sept. 25 at Old Westbury Gardens and planning four community events throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties to raise awareness about suicide. The local event is scheduled for May 11 in Hewlett and is being done in conjunction with Peninsula Counseling Center in Woodmere.
