MOM meeting
The Mothers of Malverne will hold its next meeting on Thursday, May 7 at Village Hall at 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will discuss wills, trusts and other financial information.

Voter registration
The Malverne School District is holding voter registration on Saturday, May 2 at the administration building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, May 14 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Malverne High School and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the administration building.
Voting information
Annual budget vote and school board elections will be held on May 19. The Malverne School District's voting hours will be held from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Howard T. Herber Middle School and the West Hempstead School District voting hours will be held from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at West Hempstead Middle School.
Around town
Food drive
The Jewish Community Center of West Hempstead is hosting a Food Drive all year long. The center is asking Long Islanders for non-perishable food products in order to help fill the depleted inventory in area food pantries. Drop off your donations to the center, 711 Dogwood Avenue, near the entrance at the side door. Each time the bin is full, the food will immediately be donated. Get your car cleaned
The Sea Scout Ship 26 Boy Scouts of America will host its Car Wash fundraiser on Saturday, May 2 at West Hempstead High School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $5 per vehicle. Proceeds will help the youth participate in a High Adventure Canoe trip through the Canadian Wilderness.
Bingo time
The Our Lady of Lourdes School in Malverne will host a Supermarket Bingo on Friday, May 1 at the school at 7 p.m. Come and play Bingo to win groceries.
Memorial mass
A Memorial Mass for the late Frances Mottern Lokay, who was a longtime Malverne resident, will be held on Saturday, May 2 at Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Southampton at 11 a.m. For directions or more information, call Charles Mottern at (631) 283-3785. A reception will be held at Charles's home after the mass.
Bowling lessons
The Sisters of Divine Misconduct will team up with some Hibernians for a Back to Bowling event at Sandee Lanes in Malverne on Saturday, May 2 starting at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $25, which pays for three games, shoes, a hero, salad, dessert and coffee and tea. Matinee Movie
An afternoon movie will be shown every Monday at 2 p.m. Schedule is as follows: "Marley & Me" on May 4, "Doubt" on May 11 and "Flash of Genius" on May 18.
Driving class
An AARP Defensive Driving class will be held on Thursday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This program is open to people ages 50 and older. The fee is $12 for AARP membership card holders and $14 for others. Fee must be paid by check or money order. In-person registration only.
Tale time for the kids
A Folk Tales for Pre-School Children will be held on Mondays, May 4 and 18 from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Children ages 3 1/2 to 5 can visit the library to enjoy International folk tales.
Mother's Day craft
A You're the Tweetest Mother's Day Craft program for kids ages 2 1/2 to 5 will be held on Tuesday, May 5 from noon to 12:45 p.m. Come make an adorable present with instructor Jeanne Hall just in time for Mother's Day.
Book discussion
A Long Island Reads Book Discussion will be held on Tuesday, May 5 from 3 to 4 p.m. This year's Long Island Reads Book Selection is "Wait Till Next Year A Memoir" by Doris Kearns Goodwin. This book discussion is open to all who have read the book.
Time to make jewelry
A Jewelry program for adults and teens will be held on Tuesday, May 5 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Ofra Levin will help you create a beautiful piece of jewelry for yourself or a loved one. The cost is $3.
Mother's Day craft
A Grade K-5 Mother's Day Craft will be held on Wednesday, May 6 at 4 p.m. Come and make a special craft just in time for Mother's Day.

Trip
Join the library for a trip to the city to see South Pacific on Wednesday, May 6 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Lunch is on your own. The cost is $138 per person. The matinee begins at 2 p.m.
Parenting and Playtime
A Parenting and Playtime program will be held on Wednesday, May 6 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. This is an informal workshop for a parent or caregiver and a 1, 2 or 3-year old. Specialists in early childhood concerns will join the library to address issues and answer questions.

Get your passport
The Town of Hempstead Mobile Passport Service will be in the library's parking lot on Thursday, April 30 at 11 a.m. Patrons will be able to apply for or renew their passports via the town's Mobile Passport Service van. To apply, you must bring your birth certificate - original or certified copy with raised seal - your previous passport, or certificate of naturalization. In some cases, additional identification - photo ID, driver's license/no-driver's ID, etc. - may be needed.

A Funeral Explained program will be held on Thursday, May 21 at 6:45 p.m. Fred Sorrentiono, of Barnes-Sorrentino Funeral Home, will explain all the details of setting up a funeral.
Relationship class
A Building Trust in a Relationship class will be held on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:45 p.m. Behavior specialist, Bob Tedesco, will return to explain the importance of trust in a relationship. He will offer tips and strategies to the registered patrons.
