The Mothers of Malverne or MOM meets on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. This meeting will be the organization’s Annual Vendor Night where various vendors will be present for mothers to get a jump start on their holiday shopping. The group meets monthly from September to June to provide a social and support network for mothers of young children as well as events for kids. Malverne High School’s Football Dinner will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m.
West Hempstead Middle School’s Winter Concert will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11 in the school’s auditorium.
James A. Dever School in Valley Stream District 13 will host a holiday craft fair and boutique on Saturday Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The school is located at 585 N. Corona Ave.

The Malverne Historical Society’s Annual Holiday Gala will be held on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Historical House on Ocean Avenue. Tickets are $20 per person and reservations are a must. For tickets or more information, call (516) 792-1910 or Village Hall at (516) 599-1200.
The West Hempstead community will have its Holiday at Hall's celebration on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hall's Pond Park on Hempstead Avenue. Santa is arriving at 3:30 p.m. and the lighting of the Menorah, Creche and Christmas tree will be at 4:30 p.m. The event will feature train and pony rides, costumed characters, games, a juggler and clown and cookie and ornament decorating. A Giant Book and Music Sale will be held on Friday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13 from 7 to 11 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of West Hempstead. The St. Thomas the Apostle Parish will host a three day mission from Sunday, Dec. 14 to Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the church for local catholics. A Yoga for Teens program will be held on Mondays, Dec. 1 and 8 from 7 to 8 p.m. Teens in fifth grade or higher can come to the library to learn how to stretch out, breathe deeply and fully relax. Please wear lose clothing and bring a mat or towel. Sign-up has started.
The Art of Gift Wrapping will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Learn the proper way to wrap your gifts. Participants will be able to wrap two gifts. The class size is limited to 15 people. Please bring in two gifts that are the size of a shirt or sweater box and a sharp pair of scissors. There is a $10 materials fee, which must be paid at the time of registration.
A Musical Moppets program will be held on Friday, Dec. 5 from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Children age 18 months to 3 1/2 accompanied by an adult, can come to the library to sing, dance and play. There will be nursery rhymes, fingerplays, music, movement and more.
A Holiday Present Craft: Coasters program will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10. Come decorate coasters to make a special holiday gift for a loved one. Children ages 2 1/2 through 5 can come with an adult from 3 to 3:30 p.m., and children in grades kindergarten through sixth can come from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Registration begins Monday, Nov. 10.

This course can reduce up to four points from your license and reduce your collision and liability insurance by 10 percent. The cost is $40 per person and please make checks payable to Defensive Driving Program, Inc. Bring your driver's license and checkbook when registering.
Bilingual Storytime will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3 and 10 from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Parents and their children ages 3 to 6 can join the library for stories, songs and crafts in Spanish and English.
A Holiday House program will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Teens will construct and decorate a holiday house and candy cottage using icing, graham crackers, candy and more. The cost is $4 for a materials meeting.
