Around Town
Malverne High Schools annual Homecoming Parade will be on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. The parade will feature the state champion Malverne High School Marching Band as well as the Junior High School Marching Band. The band and students will be marching down Ocean Avenue to Malverne High. Then, the Malverne High football team will play Locust Valley at 3 p.m. The schools band will also perform during half-time. The Malverne School District will also host a grand opening ceremony for the high school's new track, and it will be opened by MHS graduate and Olympic gold medalist Derrick Adkins.
The Southwest Nassau League of Women Voters will host its Annual Candidates Forum on Monday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. at Hewlett Woodmere Public Library. Candidates Jack M. Martins, Carolyn McCarthy, Dean G. Skelos, Roy D. Simon, Robert D. Bara, Joseph J. Ferrara, Michael G. McGinty and Harvey Weisenberg have all been invited. The public is also invited to attend.
