Five Towns Senior Center offers college-type courses five days a week at 124 Franklin Place, Woodmere. Members enjoy current events, discussions, music and art lectures; and bus trips, movies, museum visits, seasonal parties and live entertainment. Stage 2 Bereavement Group is now forming at Peninsula Counseling Center, 124 Franklin Place, Woodmere. Bereaved widows and widowers who continue to have difficulty coping with issues related to the death of a spouse after approximately one year are invited to join. Families Anonymous is a self-help program for concerned parents, relatives, and friends of someone who uses mind-altering drugs and/or alcohol, or who has related behavior problems. Eating disorders program of Peninsula Counseling Center is forming new groups for bulimia and compulsive over-eating. The JCC of the Greater Five Towns, in hopes of reaching out to children who undergo learning and developmental disabilities, has developed a new Friendship program, a co-ed recreational group for ages 4 to 8. This program will enable them to socialize and recreate with others who experience similar issues. Sports, art, cooking, music and dance. The program will also assist parents in learning about their child's disability and help them cope and understand expanding issues. The JCC will offer a Bereavement Group on Mondays at 11 a.m. at the JCC, 207 Grove Ave., Cedarhurst, The eight-week group provides support for the recently bereaved in a caring and warm atmosphere. Called "Al Galgalim," the program offers songs, crafts, stories, learning and ethical issues on every holiday and the Sabbath to the participating children and their families. The Five Towns Community Chest's 46th annual Pro Am Golf - Practice Round and Auction Dinner will be held on Thursday, July 11. The Pro Am Golf Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, July 14, at the Seawane Country Club. Besides the Seawane Club, the Inwood Club, Lawrence Golf Club, and Woodmere Club will be participating. Each club will be able to make their own teams of three amateurs, with the golf professional for each team being drawn from a pool. Participants must have a maximum handicap of 26 and have a USGA number and index to substantiate the same. Billed as a "Night of Laughter", the evening will feature a comedy cabaret as part of the festivities.
