The Sewanhaka Central High School District and thge Sewanhaka Central Council of PTAs are sponsoring College and Career Night on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at Elmont Memorial High School, 555 Ridge Rd., Elmont. Representatives from more than 115 colleges, universities, technical and business schools, military academies and the Armed Forces will be on hand to speak with students and parents.

Free flu shots for seniors.
The Franklin Square Elementary School District will offer free flu immunization shots for district senior citizens on Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Washington Street School, 760 Washington St., Franklin Square. Mandatory in-person registration will be on Tuesday, Oct. 3 through Thursday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. There wil be no out-of-pocket expense for this immunization, howveer if someone has Medicare or other insurance, the information must be suppled at registration.

Nature in the Bible

Putting the Garden to Bed.
After a strenuous cleanup, special attention must be paid to individual fragile plants, including fruit trees. There are also mechanical tasks which we must not forget, such as turning off water to the hoses and shutting down the sprinkler system.
