Nassau Coliseum Fair.
The annual Nassau Coliseum Fair returns through July, with more than 100 rides, games and free attractions including Dondi, the performing elephant, Animal Park Adventure and daredevil acts. The Fair opens at 5 p.m. on Fridays and 1 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4. Admission is $8 and parking is free. Benjamin Franklin stamps.
On April 11, Franklin Square Postmaster Roslyn Britt unveiled four new Benjamin Franklin stamps to mark his 300th birthday at a ceremony at Franklin Square Library. To honor the event, the Franklin Square Historical Society is making available to the public an official commemorative envelope with the stamps and postmark of April 11. The Benjamin Franklin silhouette envelope with one stamp, is $3; Benjamin Franklin silhouette envelope with four different stamps is $5; Franklin Square Historical Society-endorsed envelope with one stamp is $3. Mail the request to the Franklin Square Historical Society, P.O. Box 45, Franklin Square, N.Y. 11010, with payment and preference of envelope.
Child safety ID program.
The Town of Hempstead will visit on Thursday, June 29 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. with its Child Safety Identification Program. The Town offers to take childrens' fingerprints and photograph free of charge. The Child ID kit is given to the child's family. All children and teens, ages birth to 18, are welcome.
