Proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, a 'home-away-from home' for families who are caring for seriously ill children undergoing medical treatment in area hospitals.
By all accounts, Amiel was a strong, beautiful, and talented young woman, whose life was cut very short in April at age 23. Loved by all those whose lives she touched, she was a positive individual with an infectious smile who possessed the unique quality of bringing happiness to those around her, friends said.
Registration will be held at the Bellmore Train Station from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The run ends and JD's Place on Route 109 in Farmingdale. The cost is $15 for riders, $5 for passengers, and non-riders may pay $10 at the door at JD's. For more information about registering, call (516) 409-9200.
"We will always remember Jaclyn's laugh, her cries and those special 'Jackieisms.'" said Lisa Valente, friend and co-coordinator of the Memorial Run. "It doesn't often happen that we come into contact with a person who brings love into our hearts the way Jaclyn did. By helping the Ronald McDonald House, she can continue to bring joy to families even when she is no longer with us."
