The Friends of Mercy Medical Center will hold the 47th annual Gentleman’s St. Patrick’s Dinner on March 7 at the Hempstead Golf and Country Club.
According to Mercy Medical Center Spokesman Mel Granick, the dinner will honor State Senator Dean Skelos, a long-time resident of Rockville Centre.
The event will include a presentation of the proceeds of The Friends 2012 fundraising activities, which were pledged to support Mercy’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The NICU is the only facility on the south shore of Nassau County that is designated by New York State as staffed and equipped to provide specialized complex care for all premature and sick newborns, according to Granick.
The chairman of the event is Andrew Healey of Rockville Centre, a long-time member and past president of The Friends. Healey serves on the advisory board of the Irish Studies Institute at Molloy College, on the Board of Directors of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and the Irish Americans in government.
“The St. Patrick’s Dinner is one of our most convivial events and one of the most significant fund-raisers for the Medical Center,” said Friends President Marc DiSciullo of Muttontown.
The Friends of Mercy was founded in 1935 as an organization dedicated to volunteering and fundraising efforts for the construction of a new hospital and advancement of medical and surgical care for the patients of Mercy Medical Center.
