Sacred Heart Academy senior Anna Gunther has been named a commended student in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program in recognition of her outstanding academic promise.

The Valley Stream resident is one of a select group of high school students throughout the United States to be recognized as a commended student, placing among the top 5 percent of the more than 1.5 million students who took the PSAT in the fall of 2008.
