Merrick Herald account executive Ilene Dixel, of North Merrick, and retired Mepham High School teacher Bernie Stein were named the chamber's Woman and Man of the Year for 2005.
The chamber also installed its executive board members, including chamber President Salvatore Vassallo of the Vassallo Insurance Agency, Marian Fraker-Gutin of Mary Elmore Realty, Vice President Margaret Mueller of R.S. Jones Restaurant, Sally Tilles of Curves of Merrick, Susan Helsigner of Custom South Shore Real Estate and Julie Marchesella of Queen of Hearts.
The new Board of Directors includes Margaret Cincotta of the North Merrick Library, Richard Dasch, CPA, Ilene Dixel of the Merrick Herald, Ellen Firer of the Merrick Library, Carmela Lage (sunshine chairwoman), Family Court Judge Richard Lawrence, Kelly Leung of What's N Store, Joseph Longo of Nationwide Satellite Systems, David McDonough of Graydon Associates, Mal Markowitz of Malmar Electric, Dr. Kathleen Meyer, Douglas Mills of the Printing Emporium, Lois Roos of Merrick Life, Randy Shotland of New York Life Insurance, Linda Toscano and Barbara Traugot of B.T. Financial Services.
