Four robbers dressed as delivery men forced their way into a Merrick home, beating a man who came to the door Tuesday afternoon, police said.
A 50-year-old man opened the door for the disguised assailants who then pushed their way into the Lincoln Avenue house and demanded access to a safe. The man refused to cooperate and was beaten with a handgun, then tied up, while intruders helped themselves to cash and jewelry.
The four assailants, described by 7th Precinct detectives as clean shaven men in their 30s, escaped in a silver of light blue, late-model Chevy or Dodge mini van.
The victim was treated for contusions and lacerations to the face at a local hospital and released, police said.
