The Drayman Family Trust recently spent $16,000 to rid the center's sidewalks of the numerous gum wads that had accumulated over several years, said Barry Kirshner, the mall's managing partner. PAM powerwashing of Suffolk completed the job.
"Not only that," said Kirshner, "we've instituted an ongoing program, whenever they [PAM] feel it's necessary, they'll come and do it again, and, of course, bill us."
Drayman also hired a full-time and a part-time maintenance worker to ensure that the mall remains free of trash. The company had Escapes, a male strip club, painted anew. Drayman plans to replace the worn awning and carpet in front of the club. And all graffiti at the mall has been whitewashed.
Perhaps most important, Roslyn Savings Bank has moved into the abandoned Citibank building, which residents said was an eyesore. Roslyn renovated the structure's exterior with a redbrick fa
