Ginny McClean, owner of Have You Heard on Merrick Road in Bellmore, is gathering support for a Merrick Road merchants association.
Having witnessed the success of Bellmore Village merchants in restoring their downtown, Ms. McClean believes that, in unifying, Merrick Road merchants can do more to acquire funding for revamp projects in their commerce zone. "It's really to benefit all of the local merchants..." said Ms. McClean.
The business owner said she hopes to have additional street lights and planters installed along Merrick Road. Ms. McClean also said she plans to drum up further support for the fledgling merchants group after the Bellmore Family Street Festival, which consumes most local businesspeople. She plans to canvass local businesses seeking support in October. She also hopes to meet with State Senator Charles Fuschillo Jr. (R, Merrick-Eighth District), who has helped bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars for Bellmore Village.
