Election 2008
On Tuesday, the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District's $118 million budget passed a public vote with 3,221 yes and 2,477 no votes, a 744-vote margin. Yes ballots accounted for 56 percent of the vote.
The Merrick School District's nearly $38 million budget passed with 971 yes and 698 no votes, a 273-vote margin. Yes ballots accounted for 57 percent of the vote.
And the North Merrick School District's budget passed with 481 yes and 376 no votes, a 105-vote margin. Yes ballots accounted for 56 percent of the vote.
In the Merrick School District, Sheri Iskenderian and Butch Yamali were elected to the Board of Education. They faced three other opponents in an at-large election.
In North Merrick, Jonathan Butler and Matthew Kuschner won re-election. They were unchallenged.
The Bellmore School District's nearly $29 million budget passed with 839 yes votes and 606 no votes, a 233-vote margin. Yes ballots accounted for 58 percent of the vote.
The North Bellmore School District's $44 million budget passed with 1,060 yes votes and 808 no votes, a 252-vote margin. Yes votes accounted for 56.7 percent of the vote.
In the Bellmore School District, trustees Steve Traum and Jay Breakstone ran unopposed for the Board of Education and were re-elected.
In the North Bellmore School District, Nina Lanci ran unopposed and was re-elected.
