Miraculous Medal hits Milan

And it won't be your typical show of brightly colored, oddly assembled patches of fabric, but rather, a trip back in time to explore the history of what men and women used to wear.
The show, entitled "An Evening of Elegance" will be held at the Coral House in Baldwin Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. Parishioners from the Point Lookout church will model fashions spanning from the late-19th century to the mid-20th century to the delight of their friends and family.
Chairperson Sandy Abbe said OLMM has been holding fashion shows for years as fund-raisers, with a different theme each year. "Last year we just did stuff from Dress Barn," Abbe said. "One year we had vintage clothing. All of the stuff came from the women who lived in town, so it was interesting."
This year's theme was born out of a desire to break away from the ordinary. "This is something different," she said. "We wanted to put a different switch on it, to show how men and women dressed through the years."
The clothing all comes from Melodee II, a costume shop in Seaford that specializes in renting costumes to local theater groups.
Abbe said the evening traditionally is a light-hearted one. Abbe said when one model in particular takes the stage, she'll be watching extra closely.
"Herb Abbe will be one stage," she said of her husband, with a chuckle. "Surprisingly, he came willingly."
Tickets are still available through reservation through Aug. 11, and cost $50 each. Tickets can be purchased by calling Lucille Moran at 361-0348, Fran Principally at 889-5363, e-mailing Ginny Kelly at Dglyn@optonline.net, or calling the OLMM rectory at 431-2772.
