"Modell's discounts are another great incentive for kids to participate in walking clubs," said Wellness Walk Committee member Mari Titterton. Titterton is also co-president of the Chatterton Elementary School PTA.
"Students who complete Walking Club programs are Walking Club Champions," said Walk for Wellness co-chairperson Dee Kurth. They will be recognized by Wellness Walk Honorary Chairwoman Kate Murray, Town of Hempstead clerk, in a ceremony at the Norman J. Levy Park and Preserve in south Merrick, at the completion of the Walk for Wellness on Sunday, May 19.
Other gifts that Walking Club Champions will receive at the Walk for Wellness include PTA Walking Club Champion T-shirts donated by the Tobacco Action Coalition of Long Island and lanyards from the American Cancer Society, as well as certificates. The students will also receive their goody bags, donated by the Healthy Heart C.R.E.W.
