Friends of Senior Services hold annual fundraiser for Sandel Senior Center
Approximately 135 people attended the Friends of Senior Services' annual Monte Carlo event on May 3, raising about $20,000 for the Sandel Senior Center. Former village trustee Bud Cosgrove was honored for being an excellent example of vital aging, as well as for his involvement and regular volunteer work at the center, where he teaches a weekly class called "Stretch and Balance."
During the event, the center is transformed into a glittering casino, complete with professional gaming action, delicious food provided by Bristal Assisted Living, an open bar and decorations augmented by velvet curtains and special effects courtesy of Mormile Florist and Flowers Off Park.
"It was very successful. I think it was our most successful event ever. In terms of the beauty of the room, the quality of the food and most of all, the enjoyment of the participants, it was the best ever. Our sponsors were fabulous. The result is that we were able to raise more funds for exciting new senior citizen projects," said Dr. Cyd Charrow, Director of Senior Services.
