Dagoberto Ramos, 19, of Mott Avenue, was fatally shot on Sunday, June 2 as he left a grocery store on Mott Avenue, police said. He was surrounded by five to seven men, who threw bottles at him and one opened fire with a handgun, hitting him on the left side of his chest, officials said.
Homicide detectives arrested one suspect, Pedro Rosales, 20, of Far Rockaway, and charged him with gang assault in the first degree on Monday, June 3. A second suspect, Santos Barrillas, 23, of Central Avenue in Lawrence, was picked up by detectives on Monday, June 10 at 2:40 p.m. on Francis Lewis Boulevard in Queens and charged with gang assault in the second degree, authorities said. Police are still searching for three to five other assailants, including the shooter.
