When Rockville Centre police, on routine patrol Sunday afternoon, pulled Roberto Tejada over at the corner of Merrick Road and Morris Avenue, after saying they saw him driving with a broken windshield, they ended up finding a whole lot more than they expected.
According to police, during their investigation they discovered that the 51-year-old resident of 9 S. Village Ave. was driving without a license that had been suspended and revoked for a DWI conviction.
As they arrested him, police say they also found that Tejada had two small bags of cocaine, one small bag of marijuana, Hydrocodone and Fentanyl in his pants pocket. And on further investigation, a loaded handgun, a large knife, a machete and metal knuckles were found in his car, according to police.
Tejada was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation and being an unlicensed operator, in addition to driving with a broken windshield.
He was arraigned on Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
