My word! Kiwanis hosts Scrabble tourney

Teams of fifth- and sixth-graders competed in the day-long tournament for trophies in the categories of High Word, High Game, High Series and Best Sportsmanship. But, according to teachers at the tournament, all participating students were winners who walked away with fun lessons in vocabulary, spelling and team spirit.
Taking home the coveted Best Sportsmanship award was Jason Iskenderian from Levy-Lakeside Elementary School. Other trophy winners were:
Fifth grade
Third place: Paulina Fein and Rayna Katz, Progressive School
Second place: Nicole Fegan and Ryan Biggs, Levy-Lakeside
First place: Harshal Patel and Aggie Lesser, Progressive School

Sixth grade
