New rules for East Rockaway's Rock Rivalry

Some changes for the 75th annual high school event

East Rockaway High School will present its seventy-fifth Annual Rock Rivalry on Friday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Harry Bunting Auditorium of East Rockaway High School.

Rock Rivalry tickets went on sale March 8, to all eligible students — students who are in Entrance. Additional tickets will be sold to the general public, including students, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the High School, on March 9, 10 and 11. There is no restriction on how many tickets may be bought on these days. No student in any grade or from any school, including East Rockaway Public Schools or anyone under the age of 18 will be permitted in the audience Friday, March 18. This rule will be strictly enforced. Tickets for the Friday evening performance are $12 each, and all seats are reserved. Checks should be made payable to E.R.H.S. Student Activity Fund. Tickets for the Rock Rivalry preview performance on Thursday, March 17, 7 p.m., will be available at the door that night, beginning at 6:15 p.m.

No students in grades 8 -12 who attend East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School are permitted in the audience Thursday evening without school approval. East Rockaway 7th grade students and elementary school students are encouraged to attend Thursday night’s preview performance, free of charge with a valid student I.D. card and must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets for Thursday evening’s preview are $5 each, and all seats for Thursday evening are unreserved.

While no students from East Rockaway High School (except for 7th graders with student ID) are permitted in the audience Thursday evening, students from the elementary schools and other high schools are permitted to attend.

Announcing the winning class, presenting the Cup

n After many discussions at our Site-Based Management Team meetings, faculty meetings, administrator meetings and at a special meeting with students and advisors, changes will be implemented changes in the procedures on announcing the winning class and awarding them the cup. This is being done to help create a safer, less frenzied situation for all involved. The procedures are as follows:

n After the senior entrance, the auditorium will be cleared.
