Next stop -- railroad renovations Lynbrook station under construction

The new escalator will replace the one located on the south side of the station, which serves the Long Beach branch. Two staircases, one adjacent to the escalator and the other at the east end of the south side platform, will be replaced. The two elevators on the premises will not be affected by the renovation. It is estimated that about 1,400 customers use the Lynbrook morning rush hours.
The work is included in the Metropolitan Transit Authority's (MTA) Long Island Rail Road Capital Improvement Program, with a budget of about $2.2 million, made possible through the efforts of State Senator Dean Skelos. To date, 67 LIRR stations have been renovated through the Capital Program.
