North Merrick Library budget defeated

The North Merrick Library board planned to meet on Tuesday, April 18, to discuss whether to put the vote up again and, if so, when that will be.
"If there isn't a re-vote, the library will revert back to the current year's budget," said Margaret Cincotta, the library director. "The board will decide how they want to administer these funds and will make a decision if anything needs to be cut."
Cincotta added that a library proposition will appear on the Tuesday, May 16, school vote. The proposal will ask residents to decide whether control of the library should revert to the North Merrick School District by July 1, 2008. The library would become a school under the direction of the Board of Education.
