A fashionable cause
The Auxiliary of Franklin Hospital Medical Center will be sponsoring a fund-raiser Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Coral House in Baldwin. The event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 21 at noon.The theme for this year's fund-raiser is "Thrift Shop Fashions," and all items modeled will be for sale. Free flu shots for seniors at Mercy Medical Center
Mercy Medical Center, in cooperation with the Nassau County Departments of Senior citizen Affairs and Health and Nassau University Medical Center, will offer free influenza vaccinations to senior citizens 60 years and over on Friday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Those interested should go to the Mercy League Lounge at the CHS Management Center on the Mercy campus at 992 North Village Avenue in Rockville Centre. Pre-registration is required and is available by calling 705-1291 from Oct. 18 to Oct. 25, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Nassau University Medical Center reopens facility
Nassau University Medical Center has reopened its spacious, multiplace hyperbaric chamber to enhance its complete patient care capability. The chamber allows patients to breathe 100 percent oxygen under increased atmospheric pressure. This treatment is the standard of care for a multitude of afflictions, including carbon monoxide/cyanide poisoning, smoke inhalation, gas gangrene, decompression sickness and gas embolism. It is also a vital adjunctive treatment for a variety of often limb-threatening chronic wounds in patients suffering from post-radiation injury, diabetes and other clinical conditions unresponsive to standard management techniques.
