Firefighter Michael Esposito, who died in the line of duty on May 18, 2011, was remembered on Sunday. A section of Grand Avenue bordering the firehouse was renamed Ex-Captain Michael Esposito Way, and speakers gave praise to his dedication and sacrifice.

Tragedy struck Baldwin one year ago, on May 18, 2011, when 43-year-old Michael Esposito, a three-time Baldwin Fire Department captain, suffered a fatal heart attack on the way to battle a blaze on Grand Avenue. Esposito, the brother of another Baldwin firefighter, Todd, was remembered over the weekend, when a section of street bordering the firehouse was renamed Ex-Captain Michael Esposito Way in his honor. Speakers gave praise to Esposito's dedication and sacrifice.
