NUMC receives 4-year allergy accreditation

The division consists of board-certified Allergist-Immunologists, a research scientist, residents already trained in internal medicine or pediatrics, rotating residents in pathology and other disciplines, medical and graduate students. The division is also affiliated with Stony Brook University and is involved in patient care and investigative research. Accreditation is accomplished through a peer review process and is based upon established standards and guidelines. The mission of the ACGME is to improve the quality of health in the United States by ensuring and improving the quality of graduate medical education by which it approves and continually assesses educational programs under its auspices.

NUMC offers program for expectant mothers



The Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow is offering a Prenatal Care Assistant Program (PCAP), providing total prenatal care to all women who are Medicaid-eligible. NUMC doctors and other health team members will provide pregnancy care to PCAP clients. Included in the PCAP program is medical care, health education, nutritional counseling prenatal classes, lab services, dental care, assistance with transportation and referral to the WIC program. To enroll in the program, the staff of the OB/GYN Department at NUMC will help expectant moms to apply for Medicaid benefits. For more information call (516) 572-6800.


Mercy offers new women's healthcare program



Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre is offering a newly implemented program called Accent on Women, designed to highlight the full range of women's health services available at Mercy Medical Center and the physicians aligned with Mercy. Mercy is offering free patient education seminars on topics of concern to women. Each seminar will be conducted by one of Mercy's Registered Nurse Practitioners who bring their special expertise to each session. Pre-registration is required for the seminars. Volunteer tutors needed



at North Shore Child & Family Guidance CentreNorth Shore Child & Family Guidance Center in Roslyn Heights, Long Island's leading children's mental health center for a half a century, is in need of volunteer tutors.North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center's special Psycho-Educational Assessment Team (PEAT) is working with schools and families to help students. The PEAT Program offers a complete evaluation working with the student, parents, counselors and teachers to form an educational/psychological plan. School accommodations, educational recommendations, therapeutic interventions and medical concerns are addressed.
