Agnes E. Janssen (MacNeill), a lifetime Rockville Centre resident, died peacefully at home on June 27, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was 90.
She had attended the Morris School in Rockville Centre and graduated from South Side High School in 1942. She was a member of the school band and chorus, and also participated in Red and Blue. She went on to Adelphi University for teaching and completed her Master’s in 1946.
She was an elementary school teacher for first, third and fifth graders at the Dinkelmeyer Elementary School in North Bellmore from 1949-52.
She was a lifetime member of the Adelphi Breast Cancer Hotline. Along with being a resident of Rockville Centre, she spent her summers in Mastic Beach. She was a dedicated member of the Mastic Beach Property Owners Association.
Janssen will be remembered for her kind heart and loving smile. She knew how to be a friend to everyone.
She is survived by her beloved husband William; her children Dorothy Smoller, William, Edward and Harry. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Deborah Janssen, her son-in-law Jeffrey Smoller and her grandchildren Marissa Smoller, Jessica Janssen and Joseph Janssen. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and great-aunt. She had a full life and loved her family.
