Nancy Jane Eastman (nee Reisman), a former resident of Rockville Centre, died Jan. 2 at Brewster Health Care facility in Brewster, Mass., following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 73.

Eastman was the wife of Bradford Eastman of Brewster, and the daughter of the late Edward A. and Elizabeth S. Reisman, former longtime residents of Rockville Centre. She was born at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre.

The Reismans lived in Rockville Centre from the early 1940s to 1957 and Eastman attended public schools in the village, but graduated from Miami High School after her family moved to Key Biscayne, Florida.

Eastman was a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts in the late 1960s. In recent years, she had applied her artistic skills to digital color photography, with special interest in seascapes, landscapes and nature.

She and her husband were a couple for 29 years. In addition to her husband, Eastman is survived by a son, Craig (Cindy), of Carlsbad, Calif.; a daughter, Karin (Tim) Brown, of Cardiff-By-The-Sea, Calif.; and her six grandchildren: Shane, Brendan, Caitlyn, Trevor, Tyler and Isabella. She is also survived by her brothers David Reisman of Huntington, Bruce Reisman of Setauket and Edward Reisman Jr. of Camp Springs, Md.

Nancy was predeceased in 2008 by her son Kevin Perry of Northampton, Mass.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Nickerson Funeral Home of Orleans, Mass. The family asks that contributions be made in Eastman’s memory to the Cure Pancreatic Cancer/Lustgarten Foundation, located at 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY, 11714. The foundation is a prime source of information about pancreatic cancer and America’s major cancer centers.
