Oceanside budget gets thumbs up

      Oceanside School District residents passed the proposed 2007-08 budget by a vote of 1,651 to 1,208. The $116.8 million budget and represents a 3.9 percent increase to the tax levy, the total amount to be paid through property taxes.
      Residents also voted to pass the Oceanside Library's budget, 1,681 to 963.


Lehrer, Transom coast to unopposed victories in O'side



      Maryanne Lehrer ran unopposed for the Board of Education and received 2,106 votes. Lehrer has been on the board since 1977.
      Also running without a challenger, Robert Transom received 1,813 votes. Transom has been reelected to the board without opposition since he was first elected in 1997.


H: Island Parkers pass budget

      Residents of Island Park cast 339 votes in favor of their school district's budget, while 252 voters turned it down. The $29.4 million 2007-08 spending plan consists of a 3.8 percent tax levy increase, the total amount of funds to be raised through property taxes.
      Voters also passed the Island Park Library's budget by a 362 to 224 tally.


H: Foster unchallenged on I.P. board

      Board of Education President Steve Foster ran unopposed and was reelected to the board. Foster, who has been on the board since 1980, received 461 votes.
