Oceanside hosted its Inaugural Oceanside Lacrosse Day on Saturday, May 8, at Oceanside High School. All six PAL teams played home games that morning, which wrapped up with an OHS Boys Varsity Lacrosse Game at 7 p.m. The day consisted of raffles, games, contests and vendors from various lacrosse and sporting goods stores.

That evening, Oceanside’s boys’ lacrosse team kept its Nassau Class AA playoff hopes alive with an easy 18-1 victory over Valley Stream last Saturday. The Sailors, who closed April by losing four straight games by a combined six goals, took out their frustrations and scored nine times in the first quarter. Michael Iorio and Will Remsen had three goals apiece, while Chris Hughes added five points (two goals, three assists) and Austin Akner four (two goals, two assists). The regular season concludes on Thursday with a crucial game at East Meadow. Face-off is set for 4:30 p.m.
