Oceanside community can participate in superintendent search

Oceanside Board of Education President Sandie Schoell announced that the community would have an opportunity to participate in the search for the district’s new superintendent in November.

According to Schoell, the board’s consultant, Dr. James Tolle, will be holding a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 8 to 9 p.m. in the Oceanside High School library. The purpose of the meeting is to assist the Board of Education in “establishing direction for the selection of a new Superintendent of Schools,” Schoell wrote in a letter.

At the meeting, Tolle will ask participants three questions:

1. What is it about Oceanside that would attract a successful administrator to apply for this position?

2. What are the major challenges facing the new superintendent in the next three to five years?

3. What prior experience and professional and personal qualities would you like the new superintendent to poses?

Input from the meetings will be used to help the board prepare guidelines for the search. All interested parents and community members from the Oceanside School District are welcome to attend.
