Mostly Cloudy Oceanside Fire Department puts out blaze at Waldbaum’s

On Sept. 3 at 8:35 p.m., the Oceanside Fire Department responded to a reported building fire at Walbaum’s, located at 3620 Long Beach Road.
Third Assistant Chief JT Madden was first on the scene and saw heavy smoke condition coming from the building. Chief of Department Tommy Bettes arrived shortly thereafter and called in the OFD. Within minutes, the entire Oceanside Fire Department was on scene and the fire was extinguished within forty minutes.
No injuries were reported due to the fire and the cause is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office. The Baldwin, Island Park and Long Beach fire departments were called to the scene to assist with ventilation and searching the building due to its size.
