Oceanside High School DECA aces state conference

Nicholas Peruffo and Nick Palmiotto of OHS won first place at the New York State DECA Career Conference in the Financial Services Operations Research event.

Twenty-seven OHS students also won medals at the DECA conference, out of 41 students who participated. The medals signified that the students were among the Top Ten Finalists in their respective event categories. 

In addition, 10 students qualified, by being among the top four in their events, to attend the International DECA Career Development in Salt Lake City April 28-May 2.

DECA is a business and marketing co-curricular club. Keith Mekeel, DECA's advisor, said that this is the first time since he has been advising the club that he has had first place winners and 10 is the most students he has ever taken to the international DECA conference.
