Chinese Auction Holly Court #170, Order of the Amaranth, will be hosting its annual fundraiser on Oct. 3 at the American Legion Hall, 2745 Grand Avenue. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.  First number called by 7:30 .pm. The cost is $12 per person with a ziti dinner or $8 per person without dinner. Coffee and Cake will be served. RSVP before Sept. 28. 26th Annual Oktoberfest
Come and celebrate the fall season with an Oktoberfest at Oceanside Lutheran Church - 62 Davison Ave. (next to the library) in Oceanside. There will be authentic German food and music plus a variety of tasty treats in the Beer Garden from noon-3 p.m. Explore the sale of Attic Treasure and home-made crafts, and then try the children's games. There will be a special visit of exotic animals and crafts from the nearby Tanglewood Preserve Center for Science Teaching and Learning. Oktoberfest is Saturday Oct. 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Civic meeting
The Island Park Civic Association will hold its next meeting on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Island Park Public Library. All residents are invited to attend.
Dinner Dance
Oceanside Community Service will have its Annual Dinner Dance Fundraiser at 6:30 on Oct. 30 at the Oceanside Jewish Center on Brower Ave. in Oceanside. The cost is $35 per person. All money raised in this fundraiser stays in Oceanside to help poor families in the community. For reservations, contact Tom Cesiro at 764-2144.

Computer Kindergarten for Adults
This is slow-paced, user-friendly workshop for first-time computer users. It will cover computer basics such as Windows desktop, using the mouse, opening programs, creating documents and saving a file. Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
Simply Stronger
Certified Personal Trainer Marilyn Bunger is here again to teach this well received low-impact exercise class.  Please bring hand weights, soup cans or a 16oz. water bottle. Classes start at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 8, 15, 22, and 29.

An Adventure to Mohonk Mountain House
The magnificent enchantment of this 266 room Victorian castle sits on thousands of acres of pristine forest and winding trails in the picturesque Hudson Valley, just a few hours from New York.
