Though it had to be modified due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Oceanside Kiwanis Club hosted its annual pancake breakfast in style on Sunday.

In celebration of the Oceanside High School Sailors football team beginning its season, Kiwanis members teamed with IHOP in a scaled down version of the annual event. Proceddes will go toward scholarships for students and other Kiwanis initiatives.

Those who ate at IHOP that day were told to mention Oceanside Kiwanis, and a portion of the proceeds from their meal went toward the fundraiser. The club also hosted 50/50 raffles, a lottery and had a children’s touchdown raffle board outside of the restaurant. Parties were held to a limited number, masks were worn when people were not eating and patrons had the option of eating in or taking out their meal.

Attendees included Kiwanis Club members and officers as well as Hempstead Town Councilman Anthony D’Esposito.

Totals of the fundraiser were not yet calculated at press time.
