Exotic "Tropicals"
The Oceanside Garden Club welcomes Jenny Ulsheimer, Director of Horticulture at Clark Botanical Gardens, who will bring colorful samples plus her expert advice on cultivating these vibrant flowers on April 14 at 7 p.m.
"Passport" To Summer
Apply for your family's passports on April 17 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and visit the Town of Hempstead's mobile passport van located across the street from the Oceanside Library.
Extended Basic Computer Skills
Beginner students will learn basic computer skills and operations including mouse skills, keyboard techniques, Internet surfing, and file management applications such as saving and retrieving files. The five-Tuesday program starts April 14 from 10-11:30 a.m. There is a $50 registration fee.
Hearing Loss Seminar
Hearing Loss Association of America, South Nassau Chapter will present, Dr Jan Miller, Au.D. noted Audiologist, who will discuss the latest advances in hearing aids and requests that attendees bring questions on April 16 at 7:30 p.m. Miller is prepared to cover as many questions as time allows.

Child ID Program
The Island Park Civic Association will sponsor a child ID program at the library on April 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parents can come and get an ID for their children free of charge, as well as a DVD with info and photos of the child. In case anything happens to the child, the DVD can be given to police officers who can then use it to broadcast an Amber Alert. Senior citizens can also come and get IDs.

Island Park Egg Hunt
Island Park will be hosting its annual Egg Hunt on April 4 at Lincoln Orens Middle School at 2 p.m. All community members are welcomed to attend.
Summer Playground Registration
Late registration for Oceanside's Summer Playground will begin runs May 4-June 5, where an additional $30 per child will be charged. For more information, call the Dept. of Community Activities office at 594-2336.
I don't want to grow up
The Long Beach Theatre Guild will present "Peter Pan" at the Lindell auditorium, Lindell Blvd. and the Bay, Long Beach. Performance dates are April 3 at 8 p.m., April 4 at 8 p.m., and April 5 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and children under 10. Second Night Community Seder
The Jewish Center of Island Park, 191 Long Beach Rd., will host its annual Second Night Community Seder on April 9 at 6:45 p.m. The traditional seder dinner, which costs $36, includes soup, gefilte fish, a variety of side dishes, a choice of cornish hen or brisket and dessert. A special children's menu for those under 10 is available for $10 per child. For more information call 431-3590.
Kiwanis and DOCA Egg Hunt
The Oceanside Kiwanis Club and DOCA will be sponsoring an egg hunt on April 4 at the Schoolhouse Green on Foxhurst Rd. The hunt starts at 11 a.m. for children 3 and 4 years old, at 11:30 for children 5 and 6 years old, and at noon for children 7, 8 and 9 years old. In case of rain, the hunt will be in the School 6 gym.
Town Hall Meeting in Oceanside
Hempstead Senior Town Councilman Anthony Santino will bring Town Hall to Oceanside and Island Park by hosting a town meeting on April 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Oceanside Middle School, 186 Alice Ave. Representatives from many Town of Hempstead departments will be on-hand at the meeting to discuss any issues concerning Oceanside and Island Park residents.

Play is Learning = Learning is Play
Sponsored by the partners of the Parenting Resource Network, an initiative of the Friedberg JCC, parents can spend quality time with their young child - infant to 5 years old on April 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Rockville Centre Public Library, 221 North Village Ave. in Rockville Centre. Fun activities for children will showcase the simple play materials children can use to develop all the important skills they will need to succeed in school. J.P. Somersaulter Presents Lights, Camera, Action
Internationally acclaimed filmmaker J.P. Somersaulter will take kids on a humorous, interactive journey through the techniques of simple animation and filmmaking on April 14 from 2-3 p.m. He'll blend character voices with an historical examination of cartoon animation and show how math and writing skills play an important role in filmmaking. Audience members will help demonstrate the animation process with puppets and other fun animation tools. The event is best suited for ages 5 and up. Tickets are $8 in advance and $9 at the door.
